The missile RB 311

In September 18, 1947 the Royal Swedish Naval Materiel Administration (MFV) ordered for the manufacture of teen missiles RB 311 from the SAAB company.

Five of them were allocated to the Royal Swedish Army Materiel Administration (KATF).

The missile RB 311 was prepared for a radar homing unit and a radar altimeter. The first RB 311unit took delivery in December 1948 and the last one in May 1949.

The initial tests with the RB 311 were done under the management of the Missile office. The test firings were carried out at Karlsborg up to 1953.

As neither a radar homing unit or a radar altimeter was available at the time for the test firings of the missile RB 311, the guidance was done in the same way as for the RB 310, that is to say with a barometric altimeter and a programing work. The missile could also be controlled from ground with a radio link.
