Test Missile 315

The test missile 315 “AGATON” was a further development of the missile RB 310. The design work was initiated in 1949. The missile testing lasted from 1953 to 1959.

To start with the missiles were manufactured at SAAB but the manufacture was later transferred to RSAF Maintenance Department at Arboga (CVA). Altogether 193 missiles were manufactured during the 50’ies. The missiles were launched from access ramps at Karlsborg. The Destroyers Halland and Småland were equipped with missile installations. From the Destroyers eight missiles were launched as from the beginning of 1955. Totally 86 firings were done.

The manufacture ceased in 1957 prior to a regular bulk production was initiated.
